The "Satcoms in Support of Transport on European Roads" (SISTER) project is a 36-month Integrated Project supported by the European Commission Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry.

The project will promote the integration of satellite and terrestrial communication with satellite navigation systems to enable use in a variety of road transport applications.

The project which commenced in November 2006 brings together key players in road transport applications, including ERTICO, Efkon, Navteq, Autoliv Electronics, Volvo Technology and Wireless Car with leaders in satellite communications such as Avanti, OHB Teledata and Surrey Satellite Technology. The consortium is led by Avanti.
