The TANGO "Telecommunications Advanced Networks for GMES Operations" project is the first project under the European Commission's Framework 6 Programme bringing satellite telecommunications to serve the needs of the whole GMES community.

The project addresses key environment and security applications in domains such as marine services and emergency response including risk & crisis management and humanitarian aid. GMES is a European initiative to provide unified environmental and security-related information.

Avanti is a senior partner in the project which is being led by Astrium. Avanti is developing software to integrate a variety of telecommunication systems to expand GMES services and enhance their performance in the support of marine services and emergency response including risk & crisis management and humanitarian aid.
